Spring has arrived for the Elan Quintet!

The Elan Quintet is gearing up for a great spring and summer and has started it off with a nice review from Rob Nairn with the International Society of Bassists. In Volume 39, n. 3 he writes "The group's performance here captures the subtle shades and shifting dynamics with great lyricism: sagacious, thoughtful and expressive. The recording, made in the Auditorio de Rafelbunyol in Valencia is very warm and detailed."

We are also ready to start a series of concerts this spring and would love it if you could make it to one of them.

They are:

Saturday April 22 at 12:30pm in Valencia at the Beneficencia

Sunday April 30 at 8pm at the Auditorio de Rafelbunyol (Valencia)

Thursday May 4 at 7:30p at the Cite Universitie de Paris (Paris)

July 8 at 8pm at the Godella International Chamber Music Festival (premiering a quintet of George Onslow that will appear in our 3rd Volume of Onslow quintets)

We hope to see you there!

We will be doing a launch presentation of the CD in La Nau (Universidad de Valencia) in November but for now we are concentrated in our rehearsals for Volume 2 of Onslow's string quintets which we will record in 2 weeks.

From October onwards, we look forward to a great season on chamber music and will keep posting both here and on Facebook to let you know when and where to find us.

Summer of Elan!

The Elan Quintet is pleased to announce after it's collaboration with soloist Joan Enric Lluna last May, we will be performing our new editions to our Onslow cycle in Valencia in June and in the Godella International Chamber Music Festival in July.

This spring the quintet was featured on Grammy award winning argentine composer Claudia Montero's new CD, "Irremediablemente Buenos Aires", and later this summer we are looking forward to recording the next installment of our George Onslow cycle with Naxos.

Come listen to Elan at Valencia Lab on June 13th at 8:30pm (Valencia, Spain) and in Godella at the Godella International Chamber Music Festival (Spain) on July 7th. We will be performing George Onslow's String Quintets n. 22 in Eb Major and n. 10 in F minor (the quintet in which Onslow discovered the use of the double bass!).

Elan finishes their first Naxos recording

The Elan Quintet has just finished recording their first CD for Naxos - 2 quintets from British/French composer George Onslow (1784-1853). We are looking forward to a release of the album this autumn and in the meantime are working towards the next volume of Onslow quintets, due to be recorded this spring of 2016. Thanks to Phil Rowlands, our amazing producer, for all his hard work and to Naxos for working with us to make these beautiful masterpieces better known.
